Prepare Plan of Action
Often both rowers/coxswains and parents are paralyzed about what to do and when to start the recruiting process. There are a number of steps that need to be taken when evaluating rowing programs as part of the college search. These steps are best accomplished in a timely manner. This way the rower/coxswain and parents can digest and assess all pertinent information, and use it throughout the search as well as in making the final decision. The goal is to get recruited. We prepare a plan of action that allows our clients to reduce stress, maximize options and ultimately make the best and most informed choice.
Navigate the Process
With independent expertise, we offer parents and rowers/coxswains guidance from start to finish. We understand the nuances of the recruiting process including: how to balance crew and other obligations; how to contact, communicate and present the rower/coxswain to coaches; how to evaluate rowing programs and narrow choices; and how to determine the rower’s/coxswain’s position with respect to the prospective team.
Manage Options without “Burning Bridges”
We have seen successful outcomes but have also witnessed rowers and coxswains who get “caught” in the system and are left with unsatisfactory options. With this in mind, we review feedback from coaches and facilitate honest communication to best evaluate a rower’s/coxswain’s position with respect to the likelihood of recruiting support and favorable admission. We also advise the rower/coxswain on how to communicate options and preferences to coaches to ensure the optimal result while still preserving secondary choices.
